How to Use Rev’s Mobile App

The Rev mobile app puts everything you need right at your fingertips. This article walks through how to view transcripts, make recordings, and sync information across all your devices.

Download and Sign In

  • Download the Rev app from your phone's app store
  • Open the app and sign in with your Rev account
  • Everything syncs automatically - your phone and computer will always show the same files

Opening Files You Already Have

  • Tap on any file from your main screen to open it
  • You'll see four tabs at the top that let you view different parts of your file:
  1. Summary - Quick overview of what's in your recording
  2. Transcript - Full text of everything that was said
  3. Media - Your original audio or video file
  4. Details - File information and upgrade options


 

Understanding the Summary Tab

The Summary tab is where you land first when opening any file:

  • AI creates an instant summary of your recording automatically
  • Read the key points without having to go through the entire transcript

Using AI Chat for Questions

Below the summary, you'll find AI Chat where you can:

  • Click on one of the pre-populated questions
  • Or type in your own specific questions about what's in your recording

Reading Your Full Transcript

  • Tap the "Transcript" tab to see everything that was said word-for-word
  • Scroll through to read the complete conversation

Playing Back Your Audio or Video

  • Tap the "Media" tab to see your original recording
  • Play, pause, and scrub through your audio or video

Viewing File Details

Click on the Details tab to see:

  • File information like length, upload date, and current accuracy level
  • Upgrade options to improve transcript accuracy
  • Service ordering for additional features

Upgrading to Human Transcription

  • Open the Details tab
  • Tap "Order Human Transcription" to upgrade from 96% AI accuracy to 99%+ human accuracy
  • Get results quickly - within 12 hours

Recording in the Mobile app

  • Look for the microphone button in the bottom right corner of your home screen
  • Tap the microphone to start recording immediately
  • Begin talking - you'll see words appear on your screen in real-time as you speak

Finishing and Saving Your Recording

After you finish recording, you'll see three options:

  1. "Stop/Save" - ends the recording and lets you decide what to do next
  2. "Save & transcribe" - saves your recording and immediately starts creating your transcript
  3. "Save" - keeps the recording but doesn't transcribe it yet
  4. Save & start new recording” - saves but doesn’t transcribe your recording and immediately starts a new recording
  5. “Delete recording” - deletes the recording 

Best Choice: "Save and Transcribe" gets you a complete transcript in just a few minutes.

Organizing and Sharing Your Transcripts

Once you have files in your app, you can manage them easily:

Finding File Options:

  • Tap the three dots (⋯) in the upper right corner of any file
  • See all your management options in one convenient menu

What You Can Do:

  • Share the transcript with specific people
  • Control who has access to your files
  • Open on your computer if you want to work on a bigger screen
  • Rename files to make them easier to find
  • Move files into different folders for organization
  • Access AI chat to ask questions about the content

Working Between Your Phone and Computer 

Here's the beautiful part - everything syncs automatically with you needing to do anything, so you can:

  • Record on your phone during meetings or interviews
  • Review on your computer when you're back at your desk
  • Edit transcripts on whichever device is most convenient
  • Share from either device - phone or computer
